Mobile web versus mobile apps
We regularly get the question why we rather opt for a native mobile app instead of choosing for a mobile web approach based on HTML5 and CSS3. Granted, the latter approach has a substantial smaller impact on the budget the client has to reserve. However, if only cost was a factor for a project, not much projects would eventually get a green light. We emphasis the creation of a business case, which is not only a normal excercise before spending money, but which can also shed a light on possible outcomes and results of the project.
Now, back to the more overweight reason why we opt for native mobile: given comScore, the percentage of time spent by users on native apps is 86 percent, comparing to only 14 % for mobile web.
Basically smartphone users don’t open their browser to go to your website, they expect a native app they can open on their smartphone, and which is in terms of design not only better than a webpage that is visited in mobile view, but also is far more responsive in terms of usability.
